In today’s digital world, technology and innovation have become important metrics to identify opportunities and solutions for road safety.
I want to tell you a little story about how we at AB InBev were able the use of technology with our partner, UNITAR, to save lives in Shanghai. Shanghai is one of China and the world’s most innovative cities, but it lacked safe roads. At the Road Safety Asia Pacific conference, we addressed how new digital tools (automated driving, smart mobility, smart traffic lights, among others that rely on artificial intelligence) can lead to the reduction of road traffic fatalities. This conference was the third high-level event hosted through our partnership with UNITAR.
What results did we achieve?
The city continues to grow as a road safety innovation center with global influence. Currently, it registers 90% fewer road fatalities and has witnessed a 30% decrease in risky driving behaviors.
The global need to transform business into a digitalized environment is a growing trend we can’t ignore, which is why it is important to keep up with innovative solutions that not only affect our safety today, but also the safety of future generations.
At AB InBev, we believe that collecting reliable evidence-based data, implementing sophisticated technology, and mobilizing stakeholders, is the best way to create a safer road for today and for the future.
